The livret foncier

The title of the property, and why “in progress” is not enough.

The livret foncier is the title of the property, held at the conservation foncière. Asking for it is not distrust: it is the document that says who owns the property.

If it is shown, the name, the description of the property and the commune should be readable. If it is “in progress”, that sentence is checked at the registry, not taken on trust. An unregistered plot, an unsettled estate or an earlier sale that was never published changes the file.

This site does not publish the steps of each registry office. They are not the same, and they are confirmed the day the notary asks the service.
